Agentic AI
Agentic AI describes systems that pursue goals autonomously over multiple steps without per-step human approval. It contrasts with single-turn AI (one prompt, one response) and traditional automation (deterministic scripts).
Agentic AI in practice
Agentic AI is the property; an AI agent is the software that has it. The practical question for a business is how much autonomy to grant. Many teams start with agents that propose actions for approval and widen autonomy only on steps whose error rate has been measured. Setting those limits is part of AI governance; building the agents is covered under AI agents.
